The Wolf Creek Fire Protection District Junior Program is designed to prepare high school students for a future in Firefighting and/or EMS. The program was developed by a group of dedicated members whose goal was to educate and train young men and women to become firefighters and emergency medical service workers upon graduation from high school. The program will help students develop self-confidence and skills needed for this rewarding career.
To be eligible for a position of junior firefighter a student must meet the following requirements:
- 16 years of age
- maintain a minimal GPA of 2.5
- meet minimum training requirements
- Meet minimum call requirements
- Parents and student must sign contract
- Have reliable transportation
Junior firefighters with the Wolf Creek Fire Protection District receive inhouse training as well as training through the University of Missouri Firefighter Training and local instructors. They are eligible for EMT training through the St. Francois County Ambulance District and Farmington High School and District paid Firefighter 1 and 2 certification training. Several of our former junior firefighters have gone on to become EMT's for local ambulance districts and full-time firefighters.
